10 Easy Ways to Start Couponing
With the cost of everything going up, groceries, electricity, water, gas and everything else to mention I had to find some ways to start saving some money. There is only so much you can save on the regular bills but there are other savings out there if you look for them. I am always on the lookout for ways to save money and make extra cash. I just wanted to share with you some things I’ve found that have helped me a lot.
How to coupon
It is so easy to start couponing and you can see an immediate savings the first week. Most of the coupons are online and printable so if you have a PC and printer you’re already in business.
From my experience there are different levels of couponing. You decided how much you want to save.
Level 1 Beginner Couponer: You go into the store and see an item you want. You know you have a .30 coupon for that item so you use it. The item is $2.00 and you deduct the .30 coupon. You end up paying 1.70 for the item. You have saved. 30 which is a saving of 15%
Savings: Not bad %15 Saved
Level 2 Generic Brand Shopper: This shopper will go in to the same store and see the same item for $2.00 but instead of using their .30 coupon, they see the generic brand of the same item for $1.50. They buy this instead. This shopper has saved .50 which is a saving of 25%.
Savings: Good 25% Saved
Level 3 Coupon Deal Shopper: Now what was saved above in level 1 and 2 is not bad but we can do better than that. The level 3 shopper will do this instead. The coupon deal shopper goes into the store looking for the same item. This store is offering it on sale for .99. They buy it for .99 and use the .30 off coupon making the total sales price .69. This is a savings of 65%.
Savings: AWESOME!!
Level 4 The Extreme Couponer: As an extreme shopper they have some different options. They could go into the store while the item is on sale buy one get one free. So for $2.00 you get 2 instead of one. If buying 2 items you can use 2 manufacturer coupons. That makes it $2.00 -.30 -.30 and if your store will double the couple value that’s another .30 .30 off.. making the item paying price at .80 for 2 and .40 each. That’s a total savings of 80% off the regular price.
Savings: WOW Fantastic! 80% - FREE!
What the extreme shopper does from here is have multiple coupons per item and buy as many as possible of this item at .40 each. You not only have enough for this week but put the rest in your stock pile for weeks to come. Another option … did you know you can use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on the same item. Well, yes you can. So think about this if you are paying a total of .40 for the item above also use your store coupon for 1.00 off when buying 2. You have now managed to get both items absolutely FREE and made a profit of .20. Not bad!Getting Started – Coupon Basics
Step One: buy 2-4 Sunday newspapers. There are always coupons inserts in each paper. Best thing to do is check the upcoming Sunday coupons before you buy the papers to see if there are coupons you can use. I’ve found the Dollar General sells Sunday papers for $1.00 less than other stores so you might want to check that out to save more money.
Coupon inserts in the Sunday usually consists of “Smart Source,” “Red Plum,” and “Proctor & Gamble.”
This is a good start to getting your couponing going in the right direction.
